Evolution contributes $500,000 to support flood-affected areas in northwest Queensland

Evolution has reinforced our long-standing commitment to Cloncurry and northwest Queensland, today announcing a $500,000 contribution to Rural Aid to support communities impacted by recent widespread flooding.

The funds will assist farmers and regional families across the Cloncurry region through Rural Aid’s emergency response and recovery programs, including financial counselling, mental health services and practical recovery assistance for primary producers affected by extensive flood and infrastructure damage.

Ernest Henry Operations General Manager Jason Floyd said the donation reflects our ongoing support for Cloncurry and surrounding communities, and our focus on delivering long-term, positive impacts in the communities where we operate.

“Mining and agriculture are the foundational industries in this region. As a member of the community, we are committed to helping famers and individuals impacted by December’s weather event recover and rebuild,” said Jason. “This contribution is about standing with local communities through the recovery period and supporting the vital work of Rural Aid.”

The donation forms part of our broader investment in regional resilience and essential community services.

“Alongside this support for Rural Aid, we have an existing partnership with LifeFlight, a not‑for‑profit organisation delivering critical emergency aeromedical and rescue services to remote and isolated communities,” he said.

“With the establishment of the new Mount Isa base and the introduction of the AW139 helicopter, LifeFlight has strengthened its ability to respond during extreme weather events. During the recent flooding period alone, LifeFlight crews completed five rescue missions.”

We contributed $155,000 toward the redevelopment of LifeFlight’s Mount Isa base and $150,000 to its First Minutes Matter training program, helping ensure communities can be reached in times of need.

“We actively partner with the Cloncurry Shire Council on long-lasting initiatives and projects that support the social fabric, health and wellbeing of the region.”

Rural Aid Chief Executive Officer John Warlters welcomed the contribution, saying it would deliver meaningful support to flood‑affected producers.

“The generosity of Evolution Mining enables Rural Aid to respond effectively and at scale,” John said. “This support allows us to deliver practical assistance and long‑term recovery programs when communities need it most.”

As recovery efforts continue, we remain committed to working alongside community organisations, government and local stakeholders to support rebuilding efforts and strengthen the long‑term resilience of northwest Queensland communities.
