Bringing our Australian Graduates together at GradCon 2026

Last week, 28 graduates from across Evolution came together in Sydney for our 2026 Graduate Conference (GradCon), connecting with peers, leaders and subject matter experts from across the business for two days of learning, development and networking.

The cohort included 15 first-year graduates and 13 second-year graduates from across Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Metallurgy, Environment, Asset Management, Finance, People & Culture and Communications & Corporate Affairs.

The conference commenced with a welcome event at the Australian Museum’s Minerals Gallery, providing graduates with an opportunity to reconnect and foster relationships across the broader cohort.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Lawrie Conway opened the conference with an overview of the business and its future direction, as well as a candid Q&A session. This provided graduates with a high-level oversight of the decisions that direct and shape the work they contribute to.

Additional presentations covered a range of topics, including the mining value chain, projects and studies presented by Group Manager Major Studies Pierre Miquel, business improvement initiatives presented by Principal Mining Innovation & Improvement Simon Barnes, and career development, featuring a session from LinkedIn. The sessions provided graduates with a broader perspective on Evolution’s operations and the contribution they can make throughout their time at Evolution.

A highlight was the opportunity for graduates to engage directly with our leaders. Members of the Leadership Team, General Manager cohort and other leaders joined graduates for a networking dinner. On day two, interactive panels provided key insights into potential career journeys: one on career lessons and leadership perspectives with Chief Operating Officer Matt O’Neill, Chief Technical Officer Nancy Guay and VP People & Culture Paul Eagle, and another with graduate alumni and Project Geologist Underground Mungari Chad Caskenette, P&C Advisor Systems Utkarsh Menon and Mine Geologist at Ernest Henry Leon Pitigala.

GM People Experience Bonnie Coxen said the Graduate Conference plays an important role in helping graduates broaden their perspectives and build connections across the business.

By bringing graduates together from across the organisation, the Graduate Conference strengthens collaboration, knowledge sharing and the networks that support future success. We’re proud to see many of our alumni move into different roles around the business and help shape Evolution’s future.

We look forward to seeing our graduates continue to learn, grow and build their careers with Evolution.
