Our Discovery teams and field staff across Australia and Canada are our first boots on the ground and face-to-face contacts with our communities and First Nations partners. Working in, living in, and learning from the community ensures Evolution can undertake work with considerations for community stakeholder perceptions, and also support a range of community initiatives that meet specific, tangible community needs. Our field staff at Cue have done just that, having built a strong involvement in a range of community initiatives. The team provided a barbecue and hosted the local AFL Auskick team, provided labour for the Cue Heritage Discovery Centre yard clean-up, and donated cabinets to the Cue Heritage Centre which showcases community culture.
The site was grateful to receive a painting from local Mayi-Thakurti (Mitakoodi) elder Ron (Hombre) Major. The painting is displayed at the main reception for visitors and employees to enjoy. The stunning painting represents all Mayi clans, watering holes, meeting places, native foods, flora and fauna of the area. Mitakoodi share the same language with five other Mayi clans including Wannamarra, Ngawan, Mayi-Yappi, Mayi-Kulan and Mayi-Kutuna.
The Ernest Henry team is proactively planning to strengthen their First Nations connections.
