In May 2024, in partnership` with ICA Partners, we achieved a significant milestone in the MRPH and submitted the draft MRPH Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to the Queensland Coordinator-General’s office for assessment. Community, First Nations, and broader stakeholder input was invaluable in bringing together the Pre-Feasibility Study, Feasibility Study and the EIS.
The EIS was the culmination of more than four years of planning, investigation and design with consideration for scientific, geological, engineering, economic, social, environmental and community factors, and involved collaboration with countless internal and external stakeholders.
It reaffirmed MRPH as critical to the provision of secure, reliable and clean power to central and southeast Queensland, contributing to our national and international decarbonisation commitments. It also affirmed the significant socioeconomic benefit of the project, with impacts in the form of employment, training, and regional development. The public will be afforded the opportunity to review the Project’s potential impacts and submit their views to state and federal regulators before the Project can proceed and a final assessment report.
