Ernest Henry Operations partners with local shire to increase childcare in Cloncurry

We’re proud to partner with Cloncurry Shire Council to support the Curry Kids Early Learning Centre Upgrade Project, a transformative initiative that will increase access to early childhood education in Cloncurry.

With a $500,000 contribution to Cloncurry Shire Council over two years, our investment—alongside funding from the State and Federal Governments and Cloncurry Shire Council—will help deliver a purpose-built early learning facility designed to meet the growing needs of families in the Cloncurry region. Check out this video from General Manager Ernest Henry Operations Jason Floyd here.

This partnership reflects our commitment to creating long-term, positive impacts in the communities where it operates, partnering with local organisations and government.

The new centre will provide capacity for up to 109 children across various age groups, helping to ease waitlists and enable more families to live, work, and thrive in Cloncurry.

This partnership offers many benefits, with families better supported through improved access to early childhood education. The investment in local infrastructure and provision of vital community services create long-term shared value through local employment, procurement and regional development.

General Manager Ernest Henry Operations, Jason Floyd, said the initiative reflects Evolution’s lasting commitment to the region.

“This is an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Cloncurry region. At Evolution, we aim to leave a positive legacy beyond the life of our operations. Supporting the Curry Kids Early Learning Centre Upgrade Project is a vital investment in local infrastructure, family wellbeing, and long-term community development. It reflects our aspiration to support vibrant communities and create shared value for our stakeholders and people. We’re proud to have our name associated with such an important local facility.”

Cloncurry Shire Council Mayor Cr Greg Campbell, reflected on the strong partnership.

“It’s through genuine partnerships such as these, founded on shared values between Council and local businesses, that we can drive positive change and investment to our people. This new childcare facility will double Cloncurry’s capacity, allowing the community to grow and develop by supporting recruitment for industries across sectors such as government, mining, agriculture and more. We thank Evolution Mining for coming on board to back Cloncurry’s future,” he said.

This partnership is part of our commitment to communities surrounding our operations across Australia and Canada and reflects the company’s focus on sustainability which is integrated into everything we do.

We will share updates as they project progresses over the coming two years.
