Mt Rawdon contributes $60,000 to support swimming lessons for local children

As part of our ongoing commitment to the communities surrounding Evolution Mining’s Mt Rawdon Operations, we are proud to contribute $60,000 to Mount Perry State School to support swimming lessons for local children.

This long-term partnership will ensure that students from Prep through to Year 6 have access to high quality swimming lessons for the next seven years, helping them build essential water safety skills and confidence in the water.

In a region where many families live and work on farms and rural properties, often close to dams, creeks and rivers, learning to swim isn’t just a recreational activity, it’s an important life skill. Strong swimming abilities help young people stay safe, feel capable, and enjoy our unique outdoor lifestyle.

Mt Rawdon General Manager, Ben Young, understands this firsthand. Growing up in a rural town without a local pool, he remembers having to ride the bus to swimming lessons and how critical water safety education can be for children.

“I know how important it is to keep your swimming lessons up and without a local pool in Mount Perry this donation will ensure local kids don’t miss out by guaranteeing transportation and swimming lessons in the nearby town of Gin Gin,” he said.

“Our contribution will ensure that regardless of the changes at Mt Rawdon over the next few years, children for years to come will benefit from learning valuable swimming skills that they will use for the rest of their life.”

This investment reflects our commitment to ensuring that students in Mount Perry continue to receive quality swimming education and reliable access to local swimming facilities.

We’re proud to champion initiatives that help build confidence, promote safety, and strengthen important life skills for young people in our community.
