On Saturday 12 November, Ernest Henry operation reached the milestone 25th anniversary of commercial production, and to celebrate two on-site surface tours were held on 22 October 2022 as part of a site open day.

Open Day attendees were treated to a range of interactive information displays, presentations, memorabilia, games and a remote loader training simulator supplied by our partner Sandvik. Registered participants enjoyed a moving welcome to country with Mitakoodi Elder, Ron (Hombre) Major, who sang about his people’s connection to the land in Cloncurry.

The tour route consisted of a 30-minute drive from the Cloncurry Community Precinct to site, and passed through administration buildings, the concentrator, laboratory, mobile workshop out to the Hard Stand which overlooks the open pit, as well as the Ernest Henry Village. The Ernest Henry team supported locals’ photographs at the pit and site safety advisors provided learning sessions.
