To keep students safe and ensure compliance with COVID-19 requirements, Evolution Mining’s Ernest Henry Operations provided face masks to local Cloncurry schools. From 7 February 2022, all secondary school students and all staff, volunteers, family members, contractors, and other visitors were required to wear a mask in Queensland schools. Unfortunately, this new mandate posed challenges to Cloncurry State School as they had issues in securing enough supplies for all the students and teachers given the size of the school. Ernest Henry Operation’s General Manager, Aaron Harrison, commented that when his team heard about the new face mask, the copper and gold operation was happy to help.
The Ernest Henry team donated personal protection equipment, valued at $3500, including 8000 single-use masks to the Cloncurry State School P-12, St Joseph’s Catholic School, C&K Cloncurry Kindergarten, and the Curry Kids Early Learning Centre. With the impact of COVID-19, our current risk management focus is on keeping our people healthy and maintaining safe and reliable operations, and supporting our communities. Since the pandemic began, Evolution Mining has contributed over A$2.5 million in direct and indirect support to communities where they operate in Australia and Canada.
