We value our stakeholders and take regular opportunities to listen and address their feedback. As part of this, our operations work to foster relationships with the communities near our operations. This year, we implemented the Northparkes Operations Heart of Parkes Program and opened a new town office in Parkes. In Kalgoorlie, our Mungari Operations partnered with the Goldfields Basketball Association to sponsor the Evolution Mining Stadium and also opened a town office to increase community connection.
In July 2025, in partnership with Charles Sturt University we opened the doors of the Heart of Parkes – a shared space for the School of Rural Medicine to help train and retain doctors in regional areas, which also comprises the Northparkes Operations town office. The facility comprises a simulation lab, tutorial teaching space and consulting rooms to enable the 12 medical students to gain hands-on experience in real clinical settings, while staying within their community, close to families and other economic opportunities. Since opening, the focus has been on ensuring the School of Rural Medicine was functional, setting the foundations for General Practitioners and identifying growth opportunities.
In the Goldfields in Western Australia, Mungari opened its town office and commenced a three-year partnership with the Goldfields Basketball Association as the naming rights sponsor of the redeveloped Goldfields Basketball Stadium, now Evolution Mining Stadium. This $16 million community asset contributes to community health, wellbeing and connection and increases access to safer and more modern sporting infrastructure. A core community facility, it has hosted a range of events including the Seniors Christmas Lunch, Kalgoorlie Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry Awards Night and Sunset Soiree (which raised more than $120,000 for the Goldfields Women’s Refuge). It has also provided hundreds of students with access to sport, education and youth development training and opportunities. This is just the start and, in partnership with the Goldfields Basketball Association, Mungari looks forward to ensuring broader regional access, inclusion and participation, including for local First Nations groups and children.
