Our people are our greatest asset and we identify and implement opportunities to build the capacity and capabilities of our workforce, alongside the communities where we operate, to ensure readiness in a dynamic technological, social and environmental landscape.
Across Evolution, our people have participated in education sessions and mentoring opportunities including through WIMARQ, Queensland Resources Council (QRC) and AusIMM WIMnet. These have provided meaningful relationships, development and networking opportunities, and enriched understandings of career progression.
We are proud to partner with local and national education organisations to build a talent pipeline for the mining industry. This year, we joined a group of high school students at the Youth Without Borders Brisbane Spark Engineering Camp’s Partnerships Day. Evolution has been a silver sponsor of the camp for three years. The transformative week-long residential program is designed to inspire and equip students with the essential skills, knowledge and networking for their future study. It aims to provide students from non-traditional backgrounds, who may face barriers towards tertiary education, with hands-on experiences to discover science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) pathways and foster critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creative problem-solving skills. During the event, we participated in hands-on activities and provided mentoring to approximately 50 students. Attendees reflected that it was inspiring to watch the students take unique and innovative approaches to mining challenges, and that it was a privilege to share their own journeys and highlight the many rewarding opportunities available within the resources industry.
In FY26, we extended our partnership with AusEarthEd. Partnering with them to deliver earth and environmental science education across New South Wales and Western Australia since 2023, we have increased our support. With a contribution of $450,000 over three years, the partnership will significantly boost the impact of AusEarthEd by expanding their services from metropolitan to Central West NSW, particularly Parkes, West Wyalong and Orange, near our Cowal Gold Operations and Northparkes Operations. Our contribution will support a dedicated AusEarthEd educator, delivery of hands-on incursions and teacher professional learning for Year 11 and 12 earth and environmental science classes, and program expansion to Years 7–10 earth and space science, providing engaging, curriculum-aligned learning experiences for students and teachers. This contributes to sustaining critical workforce pipelines for Evolution and the mining industry and enhances earth science and environmental skills, education and training across Australia.
